Himanshu

Himanshu a fourteen year old boy, born and brought up in a small village of Western Uttar Pradesh came to Delhi with his family in the late ninety’s. It had always been a matter of pride and honor for Himanshu to be the grandson of the late Army Veteran. After reaching Delhi, this family of five, which includes Himanshu, his parents (Anand Kumar & Bubbli Devi), Younger Brother (Prashant) and Grandmother were forced to survive under one roof on the meager pension of his Late Grandfather.

Himanshu’s father (Anand Kumar) suffers from a locomotor disability, as a result fifty percent of his joints and muscles cannot function properly. Still in order to support his family, he works as an attendant at a Public Health Center, but the income was never sufficient enough to meet the family needs.

CFCA visited Himanshu’s family in 2015 and upon analyzing the socio-economic condition found that the educational needs of the child were unmet and hence when the family expressed their desire to join the sponsorship program so that the child could study well CFCA agreed and that’s how Himanshu’s journey as a sponsored child began.

Himanshu had always been introvert but through constant communication with his sponsor, he gained self-confidence and became more expressive in his thoughts. For him, his sponsor is a very dear friend with whom he likes to be in constant touch through letters.

Academically, Himanshu became more serious and dedicated towards his studies. The remedial classes that were running through CFCA program helped him in achieving better results which increased from 70 percent (%) in class 7 to 85 percent (%) in class 8.

Himanshu is nowadays exploring his interests in extra-curricular activities like art and craft, sports, and even debating. The online classes during the pandemic helped him in becoming more vocal and interactive with his peers and teachers.

In future, Himanshu dreams of becoming an entrepreneur and holds Elon Musk as his role model. He wants to study entrepreneurship on a scholarship basis from the Asia’s best school, National University of Singapore and help his parents in creating a sustainable and stable mode of income. At such a young age, he is on the path of fulfilling his parents’ dreams and securing a future for his family.
