DIKSHA DHRUVANSH: HER JOURNEY OF BECOMING STATE LEVEL TABLE TENNIS PLAYER
Diksha belongs to a lower middle class joint family in the Mumfordganj area of Allahabad. She has completed her schooling from her native place and after completing graduation from Allahabad sports coaching diploma from Patiala. Narrating her journey, she recalls that in the year 2007 her father took her to Amitabh Sports Academy where she got her initial training of table tennis playing. Her younger brother Gautam is also a table tennis player and both us to take training together in the sports academy.
Diksha’s father Mr. Raju is a Van driver and during his young age he wanted to become a cricketer. Despite of various hardship Diksha’s father was keen to support his children in their sports career. She was studying in Umrao Singh Inter College through which got involved in CFCA “Hope for a family program”. But life circumstances become more critical for Diksha when she lost her mother in a fire incident. Her grandfather is suffering from half body paralysis and there was financial crisis at home too. She got out from the difficult phase with the help of her family members and CFCA. She continued to deliver excellent performance in Table tennis and got chance to take part in state and national level tournaments. But financial barrier was putting restrain in her dream, that time project staff encouraged and provided necessary support so she can achieve her aspiration.
Her rigorous hard work paid off as she got opportunity to participate in state as well as junior national level, senior national level and 2 all India University championship. Her younger brother Gautam has completed B.A and is playing national and zonal level table tennis tournaments. Diksha got accepted in the prestigious Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports, Patiala from where she pursued her diploma in sports coaching. Besides table tennis Diksha takes great interest in Dance also, she has done Prabhakar (6 yr. degree in Kathak dance). Now she is back to Allahabad and going to take admission to Lucknow University so she can play University level matches.
Diksha gets emotional and feels gratitude whenever she recalls her journey and about the people who supported her. She is immensely grateful to CFCA and all those people who stood by her in the difficult phase.
