Mother’s name: Sushma Jaiswal
Sushma Jaiswal, a mother of 4 girls, has come a longway now. But this journey was not an easy one for her or her family. Sushma Jaiswal became a part of CFCA family in 2016, at that time Sushma’s husband was running a small shop from where he was giving out sound systems on rent for various functions in and around their locality, e.g. marriage, birthday celebrations etc, and there was no other source of income. The desire to give her daughters a decent life was her top most priority and she was ready to do anything to help her family earn a decent living.
Along with this the community people as well as family members were constantly cribbing and nabbing that there was no boy child to carry on the family legacy and teaching all the girlswould be of no use because they would all get married and go and no one would be left for the parents at their old age.
Despite all the odds Sushma decided to send all her girls to school so that they get the best educational facilities and stand independently. Soon after Sushma joined CFCA and got involved in the SMG groups she could learn new things about livelihood generation and so she started exploring ways through which she could enhance her income.
Sushma was very good in cooking and she was aware that Allahabad is a place where many students from various parts of the country come for their higher education and are forced to depend on street foods for survival, among them were also students and parents who came for one day competitive exams or were staying at Allahabad for months to prepare for a competitive exam and they all needed home-cooked healthy food. She decided to start a tiffin Name: Sushma Jaiswal (Mother) Child Name: Aditi Jaiswal CHID: 846066 Sub Project: Delhi – ALD service for such kids. She discussed the same with her husband, who also agreed to support and that’s how this journey started with 2 students. When she started getting more demands for tiffin supply, Sushma applied for a loan through her SHG to purchase more tiffin boxes and ration (groceries) needed for preparation of the same and started giving food boxes to 20 students.
She always believed in giving fresh and hygienic food to students because they are far from their family members slowly the students started recommending about her food to others and demand started increasing day by day. After that she took loan from her SMG for purchasing big gas and utensils in order to meet the increasing demand. But increasing demand created another issue of supplying this to people on time, to which Sushma’s husband gave an assurance and he started supplying this tiffin to the students. These days she is supplying
around 30 food boxes to children. Not only this she has started taking small catering orders for birthdays and other functions within her locality.
She also helped her husband by purchasing new sound systems so that he could do his work in a better way. Through the joint efforts of Sushma and her husband, all their kids are successful in life. Their first daughter name is Smriti Jaiswal is married now, second daughter Pragati Jaiswal is doing coaching for getting a bank job, third daughter Shreya Jaiswal is doing DMLT (Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology) and Aditi Jaiswal, who is the youngest daughter,
also the sponsored child of CFCA is pursuing her schooling and is in 7 th std at present.
Sushma Jaiswal is an inspiration to many mothers in the community, she tries to motivate others through her achievements. She is very thankful to CFCA/ Unbound for this platform through which she could change her life and be a motivation for many others.
